What’s Included Within the Beginners’ Arabic Course?
This course is broken down into three terms to offer manageable chunks of learning to students. Each term includes a blend of written and spoken Arabic, which then allows individuals to confidently build on beginner teachings in the future.
Term One
The first term covers a range of basic topics, including greetings, the alphabet, family talk, workplace conversations, and describing environments. Each topic is supported by solid grammar foundations to allow for growth in confidence and skill level. The intention is that this content helps students discover the sounds and phrases that form the language, as this is one of the best ways to learn Arabic.
Term Two
The second term has been designed to give students more real-life examples of how to use their basic language skills. This covers directions, places & towns, countries & nationalities, numbers, celebrations, food & drink, plus insights into the past tense in the form of being able to explain previous events. This term also focuses on more advanced grammar skills, allowing students to develop their confidence in using plurals and adjectives correctly.
Each topic has been chosen by our team of experts to allow students to have the option of starting to integrate themselves into Arabic culture. Whether this is through having simple conversations with native speakers, watching Arabic programmes, or reading non-course provided materials, these skills mean students can start to develop their overall understanding.
Term Three
The third and final term focuses on more conversational skills, covering a range of topics that can form a solid foundation of language skills. This includes weather & seasons, daily routines, comparatives & superlatives, education, school & work, plus descriptions of future plans.
Each of these topics allows the already acquired language skills to be refined. They also ensure students have a good basic understanding of Arabic, should they not wish to continue their studies any further. The level of grammar covered in this term is considered sophisticated, meaning it’s the most complex included in the course. However, as all content is built on skills that have been developed in previous terms, this offers students a natural progression, which is proven to result in confident use of the language.
